Lead-Safe Community Database

To use the Lead-Safe Community Database, type a service address into the text bar located on the map that states "Find address or place." If the bar isn't shown on your view of the map, you can access it by clicking the magnifying glass in the top right corner. You may need to zoom into the map to see the property you are looking for. Once you locate the property, two symbols will display for a single address. The symbol on the left represents the public service line, and the symbol on the right represents the private service line.

Ownership of service lines is split between the City (public) and individual property owners (private). To learn more about ownership, view our FAQs.

The chart below describes what each symbol means on the database map. Click a symbol on the map to read more details about the service lines at that property.

A map legend uses graphic icons to identify lines on the Lead Service Line Map. Red boxes indicate lead lines. Blue boxes show lines verified as non-lead. Grey boxes show un-verified lines. Yellow boxes indicate galvanized lines.


To view a full legend, use the legend symbol located along the right side of the map. The full legend will only display once you are zoomed into the map to view a service address.

The City’s efforts to verify and inventory service lines began in the summer of 2023 using a variety of methods, including review of historical records and physical pipe inspections. As of October 2024, approximately 173 public service lines in Oklahoma City were identified as lead, representing only .07% of the City’s 254,000 service accounts.

Efforts to identify unverified services lines is ongoing.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) requires notification to water customers of specific service line material.

If you have lost the service line material notice that was mailed to you, or if you need to view it in Spanish or Vietnamese, click here.

SERVICE LINE REPLACEMENT

Under Oklahoma law, 11 Oklahoma Statutes §37-204, and the City’s Municipal Code §55-43, the City is responsible for the public side of the service line and the property owner is responsible for the private side of the service line.

The City is currently developing a service line replacement plan to be published by the EPA deadline of late 2027. The timeline of public service line replacements has yet to be determined. When finalized, the City’s plan will provide for the replacement of every public service line identified as lead. The plan will be published online at okc.gov/utilities.

There is currently no Federal or State assistance available to help customers replace their private service lines. If public assistance becomes available, the City will provide notice to customers.
