Need an Extra Cart?
Your monthly service includes two Big Blue trash carts and one Big Green recycling cart. But sometimes that's not enough. Customers may order up to two additional Big Blue carts or one Big Green cart (up to five carts total) for an additional monthly fee per cart. The number of carts allowed may be restricted if there is not enough space to set the carts out correctly. To order, log into your account at okcutilities.com and use the "Service" tab to order your cart. Or, call Utilities Customer Service at 405-297-2833.
Storm Debris Collection
After severe weather events, the City may activate special storm debris collection efforts. The type of collection depends on the severity and amount of damage reported across the community by Utilities Field Quality Representatives and the City's Office of Emergency Management.
Smaller storms typically only require the collection of tree limbs, vegetative debris and minor structural debris such as fencing or shingles. These materials are collected as part of our bulky collection process.
For larger storms that do not meet the threshold for a State or Federal Emergency Declaration, the City may hire additional contract crews for debris removal, depending upon availability.
For major disasters that do qualify for a state of Oklahoma Emergency Declaration and Federal Emergency Declaration, the City will bring on a debris collection specialist pre-approved by Federal Emergency Management Agency. Contractor work may be delayed based on which crews may be available.
Immediately following any storm with reported damage, the Utilities Department coordinates with the City's Office of Emergency Management to conduct an on-the-ground debris assessment. This process may take several days, depending on the size of the storm and the volume and location of the debris reported. Not all storms require special debris collection.
When a special debris collection is needed, the City will issue a news release with instructions for customers, including how and when to set debris at the curb for pickup.
