New Water Meter Installations

Need to connect to the City's water or sewer system? Click on the link to select one of these contractors to install your meter.

Contractors must be pre-qualified Class D: Water Pipeline or higher to be authorized to work on the water system. Contractors have their own additional fees.

Impact / Development Fees (Water Connection Charges) 

Impact fees are charged for new meter installations to support City infrastructure maintenance and upgrades. The fees are based on the meter size requested. Check with your plumber for the correct meter size for your project. To apply, please complete this New Meter and Water Service Installation Form(PDF, 152KB) then email your completed form to buildingpermitapplication@okc.gov

  If you will need to be connected to the City's sewer system, the sewer system development charge is $100 plus $50 per bathroom unit.

Only those pre-qualified can make paving cuts, set fire hydrants or make water main extensions.

Hydrant Flush Meters

Hydrant Flush Meter Requirements

Hydrant flush meters are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Meters are not always readily available. Once a request is approved and fees have been paid, send an email to waternewservice@okc.gov to be added to the waiting list. You will be contacted when a meter is available. 

Permittee must pick up the flush meter within 24 hours of notification or the meter will be forfeited and request moved to the bottom of the list.

Deduct Meters

Deduct meters are private meters purchased and maintained by the applicant. Meters must meet current City of Oklahoma City specificiations and must be calibrated and inspected by qualified City personnel. Application can be made to reduce the volume of water discharged to the public sewer system.

A separate application must be submitted for each meter applied for. Applicants must also submit:

  • A current flow diagram showing flow of water from the domestic meter into the deduct meter
  • Destination of the water supply or wastes supported by satisfactory sub-metering data

Submit application and data by email at waternewservice@okc.gov.

Once the application is approved, an $80 fee will be added to your account for each meter calibrated and inspected.

Meters are to be calibrated by the Oklahoma City Meter Maintenance group.

During your calibration appointment, we will make an appointment for installation inspection. 

After the meter is installed on the process pipeline (at the expense of the private owner) and inspection is completed, paperwork for the calibration and inspection is sent to a representative in Utilities Customer Service. The meter information will be added to your utility account using the meter reading acquired at inspection, and any deductions in sewer charges will begin on the next monthly water bill.

 

Bulk Water Form

For bulk water purchases, download a copy of the UCS Bulk Water form(PDF, 137KB). Then take your completed form to the City's Treasury Office located at 420 West Main, 1st. Floor and pay the estimated water usage.

Once payment has been made, take the completed form with receipt to the Utilities Line Maintenance Meter Shop at 621 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Demolition Permits

Demolition permits are issued by the Development Services Department. The permit application instructs customers who to contact to have all utility services (electric, gas, water, wastewater and others) cut off and approved. This includes water and wastewater utilities with the City of Oklahoma City. To apply, visit the OKC Citizens' Access portal and create or log into an account. Then read the instructions linked here(PDF, 220KB) to apply.
