Storm Debris Collection
If needed after severe weather events, the City may launch dedicated storm debris collection efforts depending upon the type and amount of damage sustained throughout the City.
Most smaller storms only require us to collect tree limbs and vegetative debris or small structural debris (fencing, shingles) as part of our normal bulky collection process. For larger storms that do not meet the criteria for an Emergency Declaration for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), we will bring in the assistance of a specialty contractor. This may take a few weeks depending upon availability. For very large events that require an Emergency Declaration through the State of Oklahoma, we will contract with FEMA-approved haulers.
Immediately after storms where damage is reported, we will work with the City's Office of Emergency Management to coordinate an on-the-ground debris assessment. This assessment may take multiple days depending upon the size of the storm and the amount and location of the debris reported. Not all storms require special debris collection. When they do, we will send out a news release alerting customers on which steps they should take to ensure their debris is collected along with information about how to set their debris at the curb.
Need an Extra Cart?
Your monthly service includes two Big Blue trash carts and one Big Green recycling cart. But we know that may not be enough. Customers may order up to two additional Big Blue carts or one Big Green cart (up to six carts tota) for an additional monthly fee per cart. The number of carts allowed may be restricted if there is not enough space to set the carts out correctly.
