Animal Welfare provides update on animals from June investigation

Animal Welfare staff consulted with the Office of the State Veterinarian at the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry to determine the appropriate response based on veterinary guidance and established disease management practices.

Animal rescue update from meth bust

The owners surrendered the animals to Animal Welfare on June 30. Staff plans to work with partner organizations to transfer many of the animals into their programs. But that can’t happen until evaluations related to the investigation are concluded. The animals are not currently up for adoption.

City of OKC offices closed July 3 in observance of Independence Day

Animal Shelter temporarily not accepting animals; open for adoptions

The Oklahoma City Animal Shelter has temporarily stopped taking in animals through Tuesday so staff can check in and care for several hundred animals recovered late last night from a home in southeast Oklahoma City.

Name the dog sculpture at the OKC Louisa McCune Animal Welfare Center

The community is invited to help name a new, larger-than-life sculpture to be installed outside the MAPS 4-funded OKC Louisa McCune Animal Welfare Center. People can view a rendering of the artwork and vote for their favorite name among these four finalists at vision.okc.gov.

MAPS 4 Animal Welfare Center construction reaches halfway point

The MAPS 4 Louisa McCune Animal Welfare Center was ceremonially “topped out” Tuesday, marking the halfway point construction. The $42-million center is scheduled to be completed this fall.
