MAPS 3 Health & Wellness Center to be named for Mick and Terri Cornett

The MAPS 3 Health and Wellness Center, 11501 N. Rockwell Ave., will be named in honor of Mayor Mick Cornett and his late wife, Terri, for their significant contributions to the health and vitality of Oklahoma City.
A public ceremony will be held at the center at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21. Speakers include Mayor David Holt, Pastor Bill Hulse and Healthy Living and Fitness board member Bill Fleming.
The center’s new name will be the Mick and Terri Cornett MAPS 3 Health and Wellness Center.
“I’m honored, of course, and it warms my heart to share this honor with Terri,” former Mayor Mick Cornett said. “She and I enjoyed our role in Oklahoma City leadership. I look forward to seeing how this facility continues to enhance the health and wellness of our great community. My thanks to Mayor Holt, the City Council, and the Healthy Living board of directors.”
Former Mayor Cornett, who served as mayor from 2004 until 2018, strongly advocated for the inclusion of four new senior health and wellness centers in MAPS 3, which passed in 2009. He wanted the centers to promote lifelong wellness and social connectivity. A fifth wellness center will be built with funding from MAPS 4.
Terri Cornett worked for Allied Arts, a non-profit dedicated to promoting the arts across the state of Oklahoma, where she used her skills to raise millions of dollars that benefited over 100 arts organizations. She also served on the board of directors for OETA and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
The North Rockwell center opened in 2017 and features fitness classes, pickleball, indoor aquatics, art classes, multipurpose spaces, walking tracks, and wellness programming. Since its opening, the center has become a vital community hub for active aging and preventive health.
The naming was recommended by the OKC Parks Commission and the center’s operator, Healthy Living and Fitness, Inc.
“The MAPS 3 Center operated by Healthy Living OKC is an exceptional facility, and we are grateful to the many individuals who made it possible for our community,” Healthy Living and Fitness board member Bill Fleming said. “Among them, former Mayor Mick Cornett’s leadership and vision stand out. It is our distinct privilege to name this center in honor of Mick and Terri Cornett.”
