Lionsgate’s ARTHUR THE KING is sponsoring the first 20 paid dog adoptions Saturday, March 16, at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter, located at 2811 SE 29th St. Adoption of dogs 40 pounds and over remain fee waived.
If you give a stray dog an opportunity, you could obtain a king as a result, a message the big screen is ready to prove with the release of ARTHUR THE KING, opening in theaters Friday, March 15. Based on an incredible true story, the movie follows the unbreakable bond forged between pro adventure racer Michael Light, played by Mark Wahlberg, and a scrappy street dog companion dubbed Arthur who crosses the jungle to find a home.
Like Arthur, the dogs at the OKC Animal Shelter are looking for an opportunity to prove they can be great companions if given the chance. In addition to taking home a new best friend, the first 20 people to receive a sponsored dog adoption will receive ARTHUR THE KING promotional items and tickets to see the movie in theaters.
“We are excited to partner with Lionsgate on this event,” OKC Animal Welfare Superintendent Jon Gary said. “This movie shows that any dog, regardless of where they come from, is special and deserves an opportunity to have a loving home.”
To help further spread the message of adopting a pet, a local professional photographer from OKKat Photography is taking pictures, free of charge, of every pet after their adoption from noon to 2 p.m. on March 16. Those who adopt any shelter pet during this time will receive a free digital copy of their photo.
Lionsgate’s sponsorship is a great opportunity for the dogs at the OKC Animal Shelter and the community to reach its goal and save 650 lives this month through adoption.
The OKC Animal Shelter, located at 2811 SE 29th St., is open for adoptions from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. All adoptable animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
About ARTHUR THE KING
Over the course of ten days and 435 miles, an unbreakable bond is forged between pro adventure racer Michael Light (Mark Wahlberg) and a scrappy street dog companion dubbed Arthur. Based on an incredible true story, ARTHUR THE KING follows Light, desperate for one last chance to win, as he convinces a sponsor to back him and a team of athletes (Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ali Suliman) for the Adventure Racing World Championship in the Dominican Republic. As the team is pushed to their outer limits of endurance in the race, Arthur redefines what victory, loyalty and friendship truly mean.
