Trout fishing, kids' dance lessons are some of OKC Parks’ events

Trout Fishing Derby

Kick off trout fishing season at Route 66 Park, 9901 NW 23rd St., at noon on Dec. 16. Kids 5 - 15 will get a chance to catch a rainbow trout. All the tackle will be supplied and can be taken home after the derby courtesy of the Police Athletic League. This is a low-barrier opportunity to introduce kids to the thrill of fishing. The Trout Fishing Derby is free, but registration is required and closes Dec. 16.

Water Aerobics

The Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Fredrick Douglas Blvd., is hosting water aerobics at 11 a.m. Dec. 15. Gain energy, have fun and make new friends as OKC Parks instructors get you on the road to better health. This is a free event with a gold membership to Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center and $5/person for non-member participants.

Evening Zumba

Join a Zumba class at 6 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Fredrick Douglas Blvd. This is a high-energy, dance-based workout that’ll have you burning calories while you’re having a great time. This is a free event with a gold membership to Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center and $5/person for non-member participants.

Kids Dance

The Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Fredrick Douglass Blvd., is holding kids dance lessons at 3 p.m. beginning Dec. 16. This high-energy kid’s dance experience is tailored specifically for children 6 – 15. The program provides a supportive, inclusive environment where kids can develop their dance skills, build confidence and have fun with new friends. This is a free program with a gold membership to Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center and $5/person for non-member participants.
