Oklahoma City is inviting everyone to celebrate National Bike Month with fun and educational activities for cyclists of all ages and skill levels.

"May is the perfect time for our community to get out and explore the city’s network of bike lanes and trails," OKC Transportation Planner Justin Henry said. "Whether you are looking to visit one of our lakes, commute to work, or check out one of our thriving commercial districts cycling has never been more accessible. Events like Bike to Work Day and BikeFest are the ideal starting point for beginners to learn the ropes from seasoned riders."

OKC’s trail system

Oklahoma City is home to about 100 miles of trails, including more than a dozen paved trails and two off-road trails. The interconnected network of trails is almost entirely linked across Oklahoma City's four quadrants.

Bike safety

Drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians share a responsibility to watch out for one another and follow the rules of the road.

People can visit the City's bike lane safety page for tips on navigating Oklahoma City streets on two- or four-wheels. The website watchformeok.org also provides pro-safety tips for pedestrians, drivers and bicyclists.

bikewalkokc

The bikewalkokc plan outlines the framework for expanded bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in OKC. It includes plans for a network of trails, bike lanes, bike routes and sidewalks. Visit bikewalkokc.org to learn more.
