City of Oklahoma City leaders, including Mayor David Holt and Ward 2 Councilperson James Cooper, cut the ribbon on the Lake Hefner Golf Club Clubhouse, 4491 S. Lake Hefner Dr., on Friday during its grand opening weekend.
The 18,000-square-foot, two-story building offers panoramic views of Lake Hefner and the golf course, along with a new dining option for OKC residents and visitors.
"Lake Hefner offers a perspective you can't find anywhere else — sky, water, and fairways that seem to go on forever," Melinda McMillan-Miller, director of Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation, said. "Our new clubhouse is designed to match that feeling: a refined, welcoming space where golfers celebrate great rounds, and food lovers savor Oklahoma City’s culinary creativity. We're deeply thankful to the voters who endorsed the 2017 GO Bond program and invested in amenities that enrich quality of life for everyone."
The clubhouse's first floor includes a golf shop, locker rooms, office space and a grab-and-go food and beverage area named Alsie's Corner. The second story features Maxwell’s on the Lake, a full-service restaurant and bar with panoramic views over the North Course and Lake Hefner. The second floor also includes two golf simulator bays for indoor play.
"We couldn't be more excited to introduce the new Hefner Clubhouse and all it offers to our golfers and the entire Oklahoma City community," Brad Sliauter, director of golf for Lake Hefner Golf Club, said. "Rising organically from the landscape, the building's architecture pays tribute to the surrounding neighborhoods and the Lake Hefner Dam, creating a striking palette of colors set against the green fairways and Oklahoma's expansive blue sky. More than just a golf shop, the Hefner Clubhouse is designed as a true community gathering place for residents, park visitors, and organizations throughout the metro. Whether you're here to take in the unmatched views, enjoy a great meal, or play a quick nine on one of our new indoor simulators, we invite you to experience everything the Hefner Clubhouse has to offer."
Additional grand opening events this weekend include:
- A simulator showcase and Maxwell's Happy Hour will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 10.
- The Grand Opening Golf Scramble will be a four-person tournament with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, April 11.
- Maxwell's on the Lake opens with a full-service bar and breakfast, lunch and dinner service. The famous Sunday Brunch returns this opening weekend from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 12.
The $11.8 million clubhouse was funded through the Better Streets, Safer City 2017 General Obligation Bond program.
Voters passed the 2025 General Obligation Bond, which includes $13.5 million for an expansion of the new clubhouse, a project that’s expected to begin in 2028. Phase 2 will include a cart barn downstairs and a banquet hall upstairs. When that project is complete, the old clubhouse will be demolished.

The architectural firm Allford Hall Monaghan Morris worked with the Oklahoma City Public Works Department, Parks & Recreation Department and the Golf Commission to design the clubhouse. The clubhouse was built by Wynn Construction.
Maxwell's on the Lake
Maxwell's on the Lake is a full-service restaurant and bar on the second floor of the Lake Hefner Golf Club Clubhouse. Perry Maxwell was a legendary golf course architect who lived in Ardmore and designed courses throughout the state and across the country. He earned the title “father of Oklahoma golf” from his work designing and remodeling dozens of Oklahoma courses, including the first iteration of the North Course at Lake Hefner Golf Club. Perry Maxwell was a founding member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and a member of the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
Alsie's Corner
Alsie’s Corner is the grab-and-go restaurant on the first floor of the Lake Hefner Golf Club Clubhouse. It's named in memory of Alsie Gentry " Poppie " Hyden. He was the director of golf at Lake Hefner Golf Course from 1966 to 2023, dedicating 57 years to learning and teaching the game. He passed away in December 2025.
