Oklahoma City Council approved final plans for soccer facility upgrades and new amenities at C.B. Cameron Park and South Lakes Park. MAPS 4 includes $32.34 million for soccer facilities and public space transformation as part of the MAPS 4 Parks project.

Both parks will feature community-focused clubhouses with hospitality rooms accommodating up to 150 people. They will also have improved access to concessions and upgraded maintenance facilities to keep the parks safe, clean and welcoming.

C.B. Cameron Park, located near NW 122nd St. and Lake Hefner Pkwy., includes $19.5 million for field and amenity improvements.

C.B. Cameron Park improvements:

  • 10 new fields with lighting
  • New viewing plazas and seating
  • A clubhouse and a south concession plaza
  • A state-of-the-art soccer building plaza
  • A pedestrian-friendly park entrance
  • A maintenance facility

South Lakes Park, located at SW 119th St. and S Meridan Ave., includes $6.5 million for soccer and amenity improvements.

South Lakes Park improvements:

  • Renovated fields
  • A new clubhouse
  • Concessions, plaza and maintenance area
  • Three satellite restrooms around the park with concessions attached

“Both C.B. Cameron and South Lakes parks play a vital role in OKC’s youth soccer programs, which are key to community health and wellbeing,” MAPS Program Manager David Todd said. “The improvements will add amenities for our kids and families to enjoy during league play and also add capacity to host large tournaments, which drive economic impact for our city.”

Construction on both parks is scheduled to begin in October and will take a year to complete.

About MAPS 4

MAPS 4 is a debt-free public improvement program funded by a temporary penny sales tax that will raise a projected $1.07 billion over eight years. Oklahoma City voters approved the sales tax to fund MAPS 4 in a special election on Dec. 10, 2019, moving forward with a unique and ambitious plan to transform our community. The temporary penny sales tax funding MAPS 4 began April 1, 2020, and ends in 2028. More than 70 percent of MAPS 4 funding is dedicated to neighborhood and human needs. The rest is for quality of life and job-creating initiatives. The MAPS 4 Citizens Advisory Board and its six subcommittees will guide MAPS 4 planning and implementation, making recommendations to the City Council. The Council has final authority on MAPS 4. The MAPS Investment and Operating Trust developed a strategic investment plan to support long-term sustainable funding for MAPS 4 projects' operational expenses and maintenance.
