The Planning Department works with residents, businesses and community leaders to shape the appearance, use, and development of Oklahoma City; to make Oklahoma City an even greater place to live.

That's a big order and it requires involvement and interest from the whole community. Good planning relies on information about the City's current conditions as well as citizens' hopes and dreams for the future.

The Planning Department has three divisions:

Comprehensive Planning and Urban Design Division focuses on three primary functions: urban design, comprehensive planning and current planning.

Housing and Community Development Division manages numerous federal and state grants that support development of affordable housing, revitalization of neighborhoods, economic development and homeless assistance.

Urban Redevelopment Division provides planning services and technical assistance to support public, private and nonprofit development primarily in the downtown and urban core.
