Scenic River Overlay Design District

The Scenic River Overlay Design District includes six sub-districts along the Oklahoma River corridor between S Meridian Avenue and S Eastern Avenue.

Effective July 18, 2025, fees for certain application types will increase. See the relevant City Council item for more information and the adopted change in fees.

The regulations and guidelines of the district establish a framework for a variety of unique development opportunities along the Oklahoma River corridor, ensuring a high level of consistency and quality while still allowing for design flexibility and creativity.

The Urban Design Commission and Downtown Design Commission staff review new construction and expansions or alternations of building exteriors within the Scenic River Overlay Design District. These Commissions also review proposals for demolition, murals, Planned Unit Developments, subdivisions and City projects like parks, monuments, public art, landmarks and bridges within the district.
