Young musicians aged 10-16 are invited to participate in the Genesis HBCU Band Challenge, a summer-long music camp. Each camp session will be held at Pitts Recreation Center, 1920 N Kate Ave., from 5:30 to 8 p.m. every Monday and Thursday beginning June 3.
This eighteen-session Band Challenge camp is designed to bring together young musicians to improve their playing abilities, develop leadership, promote community and provide performance opportunities for its participants. Performance dates will be scheduled with a minimum of one out-of-town performance.
This is a free camp for musicians with their own instruments. Instruments will be provided on a limited basis for a small use fee. Parental or caretaker consent is required, and the Genesis HBCU Band Challenge registration ends Aug. 2.
