OKCPD Youth Engagement Council registration for 2025-26 open
Published on August 27, 2025
Registration for the Oklahoma City Police Department’s Youth Engagement Council (YEC) is now open for students in grades 9 through 12 who attend school within Oklahoma City limits.
The YEC gives Oklahoma City area youth direct access to OKCPD command and officers to discuss everyday issues they face within their neighborhoods, schools and larger communities, helping to foster understanding and trust between community youth and law enforcement.
“The purpose for the council is to give area youth an opportunity to make their voices heard by interacting with us through dialogue in a non-threatening, open environment,” Oklahoma City Police Chief Ron Bacy said. “In Youth Engagement Council sessions, students can play a role in bringing issues within their larger community to the forefront and incorporating them into the creative process of finding solutions that effect change.”
For the 2025-26 school year, the YEC begins in September and will have three fall sessions and three spring sessions. Meetings are held from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with dinner provided. Fall sessions will take place Sept. 16 at Capitol Hill High School, Oct. 21at Northwest Classen High School and Nov. 18 at John Marshall High School. Students are encouraged to attend all six sessions but are not required to do so.
Students can register online using this registration form. Registration is not required but is strongly encouraged.
Creation of the Youth Engagement Council advances the Public Safety Partnership's Recommendation 23 and continues implementation and support of Recommendation 25, part of 39 recommendations delivered in a report to City Council in March 2022.
