We're re-energizing our Recycling Program!

Seven years ago, we launched our Big Green recycling program to help you recycle more - and recycle smarter. Since then, we've diverted nearly 115,000 tons of cardboard, paper, cans, glass, plastics and cartons away from our landfills - giving them new life.

We've done well - but we can do even better.

That's why we're rolling out a refreshed recycling campaign to educate, inspire and help you become a more confident recycler. You'll see more recycling tips on the City's Facebook, Instagram and Nextdoor pages, twice-monthly emails, and other surprises coming soon.

Our main goal? Reduce contamination.

Contamination happens when items that can't be recycled - or aren't accepted in our recycling program - end up in your Big Green cart. Those materials are sent back to the landfill, creating unnecessary costs for both the City, and you. Right now, about 30% of what we collect through curbside recycling gets returned to the landfill.

Together, we can lower that number.

Ready to get started?

Over the next few months, we’ll share fresh tips, easy how-to guides, and practical ideas so you’ll always know what to recycle and what to keep out.

For now, visit RecycleOKC.com to dive into the do’s and don’ts, and learn why recycling is good for the environment and our community.

Let’s make recycling simpler, smarter, and more effective for everyone.
