Oklahoma City Animal Welfare (OKCAW) will host its annual Dogtober Festival, a family-friendly event promoting responsible pet ownership, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Earlywine Park pavilion, 3033 SW 119th St.

The festival is designed for pet owners and animal lovers. All adoption fees for dogs will be waived on Oct. 18 as part of the celebration. The event will feature a low-cost vaccine clinic provided by Angel Fund OKC, giving pets access to affordable healthcare.

Attendees can enjoy live music, trick-or-treating for children, arts and crafts and face painting. A Howl-o-ween parade and costume contest for pets will be held at noon. Register for free online between 10 and 11:45 a.m. Local pet supply vendors will offer merchandise, and food trucks will be on-site throughout the day.

“It’s a day of fun, families and wagging tails, and maybe the day you meet your new best friend,” OKCAW Superintendent Ronnie Schlabs said.

Adopt a Dog Month

To celebrate Adopt a Dog Month, OKCAW is offering reduced adoption fees of $30 for all dogs throughout October. OKCAW, 2811 SE 29th St, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with pet visits and adoptions beginning at noon.
