OKC warns public of text scam involving traffic citations

Published on May 07, 2026

Oklahoma City is warning the community about an ongoing spoofing scam in which OKC residents are receiving text messages stating they need to pay a traffic violation or risk losing their license.

If you did not opt in to receive court information by text, the message may be fraudulent. People who receive a text demanding payment for a traffic citation should not click the link.

People can call Municipal Court 405-297-3898 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays) if they have questions about possible tickets. They can also visit the Municipal Court Customer Service Window at 701 Couch Drive from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except City-observed holidays, or visit okc.gov/court for an online payment link and other details.

The court offers several options to help people experiencing financial hardships. These may include payment plans, community service and reduced or even waived fines and fees.
