OKC to host Saturday “office hours” for historic district residents

Published on March 18, 2026

The City of Oklahoma City Planning Department’s Historic Preservation (HP) staff will host open “office hours” on Saturday, April 18, to assist property owners with upcoming projects and preservation questions. Residents living in Oklahoma City’s Historic Districts are invited to skip the downtown traffic and weekday rush for a weekend outreach event.

The come-and-go event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Belle Isle Library (Room AB), 5501 N. Villa Ave.

“We want to make the preservation process as accessible as possible,” Oklahoma City’s Historic Preservation Officer Katie Friddle said. “By moving outside of the typical work week and providing a location with free parking and easy access, we hope to better support our residents in their efforts to preserve their properties.”

This informal session is designed to provide a convenient, stress-free environment for residents to meet one-on-one with the City staff dedicated to maintaining the unique character of OKC’s historic neighborhoods. Whether a homeowner is planning a major renovation or simply wants to learn more about the application process, staff will be on hand to provide expert guidance.

Available resources at the event:

  • Application forms.
  • Copies of the Historic District Standards and Guidelines.
  • Sample materials, including site plans.

No appointment is necessary for this free event. For those unable to attend, questions regarding historic preservation can be directed to the HP staff at (405) 297-1624.
