Due to anticipated severe winter weather, the Oklahoma City Utilities Department has prepared alternative plans for trash and recycling collection beginning tomorrow and running through Wednesday.

Here’s what customers need to know:

Friday, Jan. 23

  • At this time, trash and recycling collection will proceed as scheduled; however, customers should set out their carts at the curb tonight or before 5 a.m., as crews will start routes early.
  • If crews are unable to complete all Friday routes, any uncollected trash or recycling will be rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 28. Customers should have carts to the curb by 5 a.m. or earlier on Wednesday. (See below for additional Jan. 28 details.)
  • Bulky waste collection is not impacted this week. All bulky waste routes will be completed by Friday afternoon.

Monday, Jan. 26

  • Due to anticipated road conditions, trash and recycling collection scheduled for Monday has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 28. (See below for additional Jan. 28 details.)
  • Customers who receive bulky waste collection on the fourth Monday of the month (Jan. 26) should place bulky waste at the curb Monday as scheduled and leave it at the curb until collected.

Wednesday, Jan. 28

  • Due to the combined collection of any missed Friday routes and all Monday routes, crews will service an increased number of routes on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
  • To accommodate the higher volume, drivers will begin routes approximately one hour earlier than usual and may work later into the evening to ensure all routes are completed. Customers rescheduled to Wednesday collection should place carts at the curb by 5 a.m., or earlier, and leave them out until serviced.

Other collection days

  • There are no anticipated service changes on Tuesday, Jan. 27, Thursday, Jan. 29, or Friday, Jan. 30. If weather conditions require additional adjustments, updates will be announced.
  • Customers expecting cart deliveries or repairs may experience delays, as those services will resume when conditions are safe next week.
