OKC Ward 7 Councilman Camal Pennington to host town hall Oct. 13

Everyone is invited to a town hall and open house moderated by Ward 7 Councilman Camal Pennington at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1020 NE 42nd St.

Councilman Pennington will emcee the meeting with topics including the NE 23rd St. Streetscape project, affordable housing, Creston Park, LA28 and homeless outreach programs. Residents are asked to submit questions prior to the event and RSVP at penningtonokcward7.com/ward-7-town-hall.

The town hall is sponsored by NE Neighborhood Coalition and the City of OKC and will host speakers, including Michael Byrnes, LA28 Program Lead; Jamie Caves, Key to Home Strategy Implementation Manager; and Ernestine Mbroh, Director of Transportation at Mbroh Engineering.

After the presentations, attendees can visit with City staff and community vendors, including The East End Commercial District, Northeast OKC Renaissance, OK Policy and more.

“This town hall offers residents an opportunity to learn about ongoing community initiatives and share ideas,” Councilman Pennington said. “These kinds of discussions often help shape the future of Ward 7.”

Ward 7 includes northeast Oklahoma City and extends into the southeast and northwest parts of the city.

Councilman Pennington was elected to the OKC City Council in April 2025. He serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity, where he leads efforts to create affordable housing for working families in OKC, establishing a foundation for them to thrive, build wealth and create opportunity for generations to come. Before his work at Habitat for Humanity, he held positions including Executive Director of It's My Community Initiative (IMCI) and Director of Annual Giving and Admissions at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
