Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is rolling out a new virtual queue system on Tuesday, June 3, to improve the visitor experience and reduce stress on shelter pets.
The shelter will begin using Waitwhile, a digital platform that allows visitors to join a virtual line by scanning a QR code with their phone and following simple on-screen instructions. After checking in, guests may wait in their vehicles or walk around the kennel area if it is open. On-site staff will assist those who do not have a phone or need help using the system.
The system reduces lobby congestion, creates a calmer space for animals, and helps staff serve the public more efficiently.
“Our current facility has a very small lobby, and it’s easily congested,” said Ronnie Schlabs, superintendent of Oklahoma City Animal Welfare. “This new system will ease that congestion, reduce stress on the animals, and allow guests to relax or walk the shelter while they wait. We’re always working to improve our service and how quickly and thoroughly we can help the community.”
Shelter hours remain noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is located at 2811 SE 29th St.
