Friday, Oct. 13
The Willa D. Johnson Community Center at 909 Fredrick Douglas Ave. is hosting “Total Wellness” at 1:30 p.m. This is a free weight-loss and healthy living class for adults. Learn how to follow a healthy, balanced diet and be physically active as part of a healthy lifestyle. Free health screenings are available. Registration ends Nov. 15. Classes are also available online. Register at okc.gov/parks.
Saturday, Oct. 14
Martin Park Nature Center at 5000 W. Memorial Road is hosting “Native Seed Swap” at 10 a.m. in the Visitor’s Center Library. Swap seeds with fellow gardeners and grow native grasses, bushes, and wildflowers that will thrive in our climate. This is a free program, and registration ends Oct. 14. Register at okc.gov/parks.
H.B. Parsons Fish Hatchery, located at 10940 N. Meridian Ave., is holding its open house Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into maintaining Oklahoma City’s fisheries. This is a free event, open to all ages. Registration ends Oct. 14. Register at okc.gov/parks.
It’s getting spooky at the NW Optimist Recreation Center's Haunted House, located at 3301 NW Grand Blvd. The bewitching hour begins at 6:30 p.m., and admission is $3 at the door. Please wear old clothes, you won’t mind getting stained by the spirits of Halloween.
