Newcomer Katrina Bedell Avers was elected to represent Oklahoma City Council’s Ward 3, defeating incumbent Barbara Peck in the Feb. 11 Oklahoma City Council general election. Ward 3 is in southwest OKC.

Ward 7 candidates Camal Pennington and John A. Pettis, Jr., are scheduled to face off in a runoff election on April 1. Ward 7 is primarily located in NE Oklahoma City.

All election results are unofficial until certified by the Oklahoma County Election Board.

The councilmembers will begin four-year terms on April 29.

The nonpartisan Oklahoma City Council has nine members: the Mayor, who is elected citywide, and one member from each of Oklahoma City’s eight Wards. They serve part-time as the head of the City’s Council-Manager form of government. The Mayor’s annual salary is $24,000, and each Council member’s annual salary is $12,000.
