JoBeth Hamon

Ward 6 Councilwoman

Ward 6

Councilwoman JoBeth Hamon believes that we improve life for everyone when we improve life for those society marginalizes. First elected in 2019, and re-elected in 2023, she is the 11th woman to serve on the Oklahoma City Council.

Councilwoman Hamon moved to Oklahoma for college and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2012. After graduating, she joined the Episcopal Service Corps in Chicago, where she worked at a shelter for people experiencing homelessness. Since moving to Oklahoma City, Councilwoman Hamon has worked in mental health services and education.

JoBeth lives without a car, navigating the city solely on her bike and the city’s EMBARK bus system. During her time on City Council, JoBeth has focused her efforts on addressing the lack of affordable housing in Oklahoma City, improving bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, and increasing transparency of city operations for residents. In her spare time, you can find JoBeth reading, hanging out with her dogs, and watching Star Trek.
