Artist Bio
As an artist I have been contributing to the creativity of Oklahoma for over 15 years and held multiple positions in the field of arts education during this time. My experience with large scale public and private art projects is extensive, and I have completed projects for two Oklahoma City Senior Health and Wellness Centers, and I am currently working on a third. I am truly passionate about public art and creating specifically for the local community. My experience in creating community centric public art that reflects the area’s culture and history can be seen in projects that I have completed working with several of OKC’s cultural districts like The 39th Street District and La 29th. The murals I created for those districts directly reflect the diversity and energy of the communities. I like to work with community stakeholders in the production of thoughtful public art. Gathering as much insight about the community and history in the early stages of creating a design. All my projects start with learning and understanding the richness of a community and its people. I get a feel for the type of work that will best represent the goals of the stakeholders and the community using the space. I am constantly pushing my ideas and media to create community and regionally inspired work that speaks to a broad audience. As a multi-media artist, I find the right materials for each project, and will remain open to finding ways of adding interest to a piece by bring in different substrates and adding 3D elements if the design calls for it. I always work to push the boundaries of my art to create memorable interactions for the viewer. I transform spaces into experiences. I work to find ways to bring all audiences to the art. All public art projects are community projects to some extent, but I really look to find opportunities to work directly with the local community in the creation and development of my work.
