As the federal government shutdown continues and the funding for SNAP is suspended, more Oklahoma City residents face uncertainty. Although the City of Oklahoma City does not operate food pantries or provide direct financial assistance, we have compiled a list of resources available to those in need.
Dee Dee Dodd, paints under the name of Newton Conder. Known for her colorful cowgirls and animals of the west. Her love of color began at an early age, coloring in color books with her mother. “I never colored the pictures in a traditional sense. Objects were either colored in polka dots or a fire truck was colored in hot pink”. A feminist at heart she has only ever painted one cowboy, Tom Mix, currently on display at Paseo Gallery One. Her love of the “west” comes from growing up watching westerns and her favorites were The Rifleman and Gun Smoke and she would love to write a children’s book entitled, If the West was run by Cowgirls.
Now in her 20th year of painting, her love of art began while living in New York City in 2003. I had a very vivid dream to go buy paints and brushes and during the winters she would paint her photos that she printed on canvas. Her work can also be found at Blue Sky Art Gallery in Santa Fe, and Adobe Western Gallery in Fort Worth, TX. I’m currently a guest artist at Paseo Gallery One.
