Title: Illios ii
Category: Projection and Mapping
Genre: Installation
Description: The geodesic dome “Ilios”, a sound and light installation was originally created by Johnathan Moony in 2016. Johnathan, a member of the bands Phantogram and Other Lives had only a handful of showings with “Ilios” and was soon retired to a warehouse where it sat for years. 1984 Studios wanted to bring it back to life. The dome was purchased and transported over 2000 miles to its new home. “Ilios" was broken and had forgotten it’s self. In 2022 it was rebuilt and repurposed into its new form “Illios ii”. Where it learned to not only self reflect but to vibrate in a different way and shine for all to see and experience.
“Illios ii” is a geodesic dome 12 feet wide and 12 feet tall. It’s made of solid wood panels with 18” steel angles bolted together by nuts and bolts. It’s outside is painted white to reflect light from 2-3 projectors and it’s inside is made of mirror plexiglass in almost 360°. This installation has been apart of several events at 1984 Studios and one installation in Tulsa Oklahoma at Dream Land Festival, an arts and technology festival.
