Artist Bio

I have over 40 years experience in art and over 30 years experience teaching and producing in the field of interactive media. My art is my meditation and reprieve from the world of computers. I draw inspiration equally from my backgrounds in science and art, and balance them with metaphysics and The Mystery. BS in Zoology, focus on Limnology, I was a stripper, platemaker, and member of the Graphic Arts Union in offset lithography. I studied color and painting with Bill Wallo at CSU. I helped manage Paseo Intaglio Printers editioning and contract printmaking for local and national artists. I was honored to be selected as 2004 Festival of the Arts juror for the Arts Council of Oklahoma City. I helped create the Artful Experience committee for the Arts Council of Oklahoma City and chaired that committee for its first two years which taught principles of printmaking to festival goers through exhibits and demonstrations. I was the guest juror for the 2009 Paseo Festival of the Arts, and in 2019 for the Goddard Center 47th Annual Competition. I was the Allied Artist representing OVAC, exhibited in the State Capitol of Oklahoma’s East Gallery in 2008, had a painting chosen for the Oklahoma State Art Collection. I was staff and faculty of the University of Central Oklahoma and was instrumental in the founding of the Presentation Production Center, taught principles of interactivity and was production supervisor for the Multimedia Technology Laboratory. My interactive clients have included: Robert A. Hefner III’s (along with his wife MeiLi Hefner) GHK Companies family entities & interests: Ramiiisol Vineyards, Hefner Collection, Hefner Foundation, The Grand Energy Transition, State of Oklahoma Governor’s Office, OVAC, Allied Artists,  Delta Dental of Oklahoma.

Artist Work

Title: Awaiting
Category: Visual Arts
Genre: Painting
Description: ‘Awaiting’ is a 36”x48” oil on canvas - choreographed brushwork suggests impermanence and transformation, while the heavy texture simulates the atmospheric energy that charges the work to connect with the viewer on an emotional level. This technique can be recreated in etched glass or marble.

Title: cloudEscape #1
Category: Visual Arts
Genre: Painting
Description: ‘cloudEscape #1’ is a 5 ”x7” oil on paper and as its title suggests is a studio reprieve from my project management world on computer. The cinematic quality of this contemporary technique suggests a vintage cloudScape on highly textured paper. This technique can translate into etched glass or marble.

Title: immigrants/redacted
Category: Visual Arts
Genre: Installation/Site-Specific
Description: ‘immigrants/redacted’ is a mixed media, politically satirical installation (variable size) that includes broken glass in frames, vintage photos each with a toe tag labeling ‘cause of death’ which showcases the stereotypes, the compartmentalizing tags we place on people targeting them, thereby giving some humans permission to sport-kill other humans.
