As the federal government shutdown continues and the funding for SNAP is suspended, more Oklahoma City residents face uncertainty. Although the City of Oklahoma City does not operate food pantries or provide direct financial assistance, we have compiled a list of resources available to those in need.
I enjoy creating visually intriguing, attractive, and often functional objects or images in a variety of mediums. Experimenting with scale and juxtaposing/combining traditionally incongruent/counterintuitive elements are also essential motivations for my work.
Title: Stasis (aka Fin/Fang) Category: Visual Arts Genre: Mosaic Description: Mosaic tiled concrete dish (21" circumference, x 5"H), designed as a decorative centerpiece/functional item. 'Stasis' may mean 'inactivity' or 'equilibrium', but can also imply 'tension' (as of opposing forces). Balance is key (and chaos never sleeps).
Title:[untitiled] Category: Visual Arts Genre: Drawing Description: Graphite portrait [15"H x10.25"W] Pencils were my first art tools, and graphite is still my medium of choice for drawing. This is an older piece, but remains one of my favorite works in the ol' portfolio. (includes lyrics from 'Sister Golden Hair' written by Gerry Beckley)
Title: Bamba Heart Category: Visual Arts Genre: Glass Description: Stained glass pane [18" x18" x.5"] A clear, textured heart framed by a stunning, carefully selected red & green glass (produced by Youghiogheny Glass) to which photos do not do justice. A commentary on the nuanced nature of existence (with lyrical inspiration (via Steve Gerber) from "La Bamba' by Ritchie Valens).
