The Oklahoma City Environmental Trust is a public trust created on January 23, 1979. The purposes of the trust are to encourage, promote and finance pollution control, waste disposal and pretreatment as well as cultural, educational and housing activities. In 1989, the Trust entered into agreements with independent contractors to provide refuse collection, street sweeping and landfill disposal for certain areas of Oklahoma City. The Mayor and members of the City Council serve as trustees. The city manager serves as general manager.
