Cast members in costumeDance, acting, singing are all part of the fun and fantasy at the NW Optimist Performing Arts Community Center, 3301 NW Grand Boulevard. Classes and camps are available throughout the year for all ages.

 


SUMMER PERFORMING ARTS DAY CAMPSummer Performing Arts Camp photo

Your young star will shine at this popular summer program for youth ages 6-17. With only two weeks to put on a fully-realized musical production, the stage is set for campers to sing, dance, act plus design costumes and sets. Three two-week sessions are available. Each session runs Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Snacks are provided twice a day but company members are asked to bring a sack lunch.

No prior performing arts experience required.

Cost: $165 per student, per session

Fall, Winter, Spring Classes

Youth and adults can participate in a variety of performing arts classes. Middle Eastern dancing, Hip-Hop, Irish dance, Ballet, tap and a variety of dramatic arts classes are available. Classes for home school groups are also available.

Haunted Holiday

Halloween

Each day becomes a creative outlet for participants to design, build, and accessorize while working together as a production group to finalize a haunted house for the all-night Halloween Hullaballoo.* Participants will also learn the basics of stage makeup and costume construction as well as becoming familiar with acting games.

Date: 10/14/13 - 10/18/13
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Cost: $80 per participant.

Holiday Magic Camp

Celebrate the magic and majesty of the Holiday Season during the NW Optimist's annual Holiday Magic Drama Camp. The three-day camp will have your favorite star singing and dancing to family Holiday classics! For ages 6-16.

Spring Sing Drama Day Camp

Youth ages 6 to 16 can take to the stage during our "Sping Sing" performing arts day camp. Campers will learn song and dance routines which they'll perform at the end-of-camp revue for family and friends. The camp runs 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, March 17-21.  

The revue takes place at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 21.

Cost: $90 per participant.

Records:
Participants must provide current immunization records for enrollment (youth only)

Wardrobe:
Unless otherwise noted by instructor, participants need to wear either dance shoes (jazz/ballet) or sneakers. No sandals or clogs, please. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in, and even get on the floor.
Lunch:
All-day camp participants need to bring a sack lunch. Two snacks will be provided daily;
