Oklahoma City Council chooses sites for third and fourth MAPS 3 Senior Health and Wellness Centers
The third and fourth MAPS 3 Senior Health and Wellness Centers will be in northeast and far southwest Oklahoma City.
The third center will be at NE 36th Street and Lincoln Boulevard. It’s near a planned full-service grocery store and headquarters development at the same intersection. The Council previously selected Langston University as the operating partner for the senior center.
A fifth senior center is proposed as part of MAPS 4, along with a fund to provide scholarships for low-income seniors who would use it or the MAPS 3 centers. The MAPS 4 special election is Dec. 10. Visit okc.gov/maps4 for details.
About the MAPS 3 senior centers
The MAPS 3 Senior Health and Wellness Centers connect local seniors with important services, and also with each other. They have operating partners experienced in providing the services seniors need.
The centers provide seniors access to exercise equipment and programs, medical and other wellness services, social spaces and recreational activities.
Each one is designed to reflect the specific needs and desires of seniors in the nearby community.
The centers have spaces for exercise equipment, sports, heated fitness pools, classroom space, cafes, locker rooms, social space and more. They’re designed specifically for seniors down to the last detail, like curb-less parking lots.
