Oklahoma City gets two new alternative fuel vehicles from ACOG grant
The City of Oklahoma City replaced a diesel-powered dump truck and gas-powered car with alternative fuel vehicles thanks to help from an Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) grant.
A compressed natural gas (CNG) Freightliner 114SD dump truck and an electric-powered Chevrolet Bolt EV are joining the City fleet, replacing conventionally powered vehicles at the end of their service life. The City paid the normal price for a conventionally powered vehicle, with ACOG’s Clean Air Grant for Public Sector Fleets covering the rest of the cost.
The ACOG grant also covered 80% of the cost for an electric vehicle charging station to serve the new Bolt EV and the City’s growing fleet of electric vehicles.
The General Services Department applied for the ACOG grant. With help from the grant in previous years, the department has now placed in service three CNG dump trucks, five CNG sedans, five electric vehicles and two plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, plus four charging stations.
The City of Oklahoma City is a member of ACOG and Central Oklahoma Clean Cities, working with vehicle fleets, fuel providers, community leaders and other stakeholders on advanced transportation technology.
