More than 500 pets from OKC Animal Welfare and others at Mega Adoption event this weekend

Post Date:06/06/2019 1:06 PM

Adopt a homeless pet into your family from OKC Animal Welfare and other local humane groups at the Mega Adoption event this weekend at State Fair Park.

The event is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 8 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at the Hobbies, Arts & Crafts Building on the fairgrounds, 3001 General Pershing Blvd.

“There are going to be more than 500 homeless pets available for adoption,” said OKC Animal Welfare Superintendent Jon Gary. “With that many pets from so many local organizations, there’s bound to be the perfect choice for every loving home.”

The early summer adoption event is crucial for OKC Animal Welfare and the other groups, which need plenty of space for pets soon to come into their care during the always-busy summer season.

Participating groups include OKC Animal Welfare, the Bella Foundation, Central OK Humane Society, Edmond Animal Welfare, Forgotten Treasures Animal Rescue, Friends of the Mustang Animal Shelter, Groovy Paws Rescue, Mutt Misfits, Norman Animal Welfare, OK Save A Dog and Snakes Alive Reptile and Exotics Rescue.

Adoption fees vary by group.

All adoptable pets from OKC Animal Welfare are microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, treated for worms and spayed or neutered.

Adoptions are also available from noon to 5:30 p.m. all weekend – and every day but holidays – at the OKC Animal Welfare shelter, 2811 SE 29th Street.
