Oklahoma City to begin final run of May 25 storm debris pickup

Post Date:06/06/2019 10:39 AM

Residents in the designated storm area after the May 25 severe storms need to put any remaining debris at their curbside by 6 a.m. Monday, June 10 so Utilities Department crews can pick it up before the final pass ends June 17.

Residents in the designated storm area who set out debris curbside by 6 a.m. Monday won’t have any additional charges on their monthly utility bill for the pickup service. All other debris will be subject to regular bulky waste collection rules and fees.

The designated storm area is broken in four zones (click here for a map):

  • From MacArthur Boulevard to Santa Fe Avenue between NW 10th and NW 23rd streets.
  • From Meridian to Martin Luther King Avenue between NW/NE 10th and NW/NE 36th streets.
  • From Santa Fe to Martin Luther King Avenue from NE 36th to NE 50th streets.
  • From Kelley Avenue to Martin Luther King from NE 50th to NE 63rd streets.

Debris should be stacked separately from other bulky waste, and regular bulky waste should not be mixed in with the storm debris.

What we collect

Items in the designated storm collection area include downed trees, limbs, fencing and other vegetative debris. Tree limbs must be cut in sections no longer than 10 feet.

Debris should be stacked on the curbside and kept away from obstacles such as mailboxes, poles, gas and power lines, water meters, trees and other obstructions. Do not park any vehicles near the curbside after setting out the debris.

Residents whose regular bulky waste day falls within the special storm collection period can set out their regular bulky waste so long as they pile it separately. All regular bulky waste rules will apply, including fees for bulky waste that exceeds the standard 4 cubic yards for regular bulky pickup.

Commercial properties

Commercial properties – including businesses, churches, schools, nonprofits and other organizations – are not eligible for the City’s special storm collection. Those properties are responsible for their own debris collection.
