Post Date:01/10/2019 2:22 PM

Anglers who want to learn trout fishing skills for Oklahoma City’s annual rainbow trout season are invited to a free trout fishing clinic from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Putnam City High School gymnasium, 5300 NW 50th Street.

Staff and volunteer instructors from the Parks and Recreation Department and Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) will share their trout know-how, including tips for the best bait and equipment for trout, knot-tying and fish cleaning, plus ethics, fish identification and more.

The free clinic is open to anglers of all ages. Call the H.B. Parsons Fish Hatchery at (405) 297-1426 for required registration.

The clinic is part of the City’s annual rainbow trout season, which began Dec. 1 and ends Feb. 28 at Dolese Youth Park Pond, 5105 NW 50th Street.

The annual trout season and clinic are part of the City’s fisheries management program and the “Close to Home” fishing program. This year’s stocked trout are funded through the Dolese Brothers Company, the 89er chapter of Trout unlimited and sport fish restoration funds from the ODWC.
