Post Date:08/30/2011

(August 30, 2011) - MAPS 3 was given the green light to move ahead when City Council adopted the MAPS 3 implementation plan today.  The plan guides the MAPS 3 process and lays out budgets, scope of work and a timeline for each of MAPS 3’s eight projects.

MAPS 3 projects include a downtown convention center, a modern streetcar/transit, a downtown public park, Oklahoma River improvements, senior health and wellness centers, Oklahoma State Fairgrounds improvements, trails and sidewalks.

MAPS 3 is a 10-year-long construction program to improve the quality of life in Oklahoma City.  The seven-year and nine month long, one-cent sales tax initiative began on April 1, 2010 and funds eight projects.  MAPS 3 is estimated to raise $777 million.
