Dr. Gloria Williams Griffin appointed to MAPS 3 Citizens Advisory Board

Post Date:03/26/2013

(March 26, 2013) - Dr. Gloria Williams Griffin will replace Wayne Williams as the Ward 7 representative on the MAPS 3 Citizens Advisory Board.  Wayne Williams has served on the advisory board since its beginning in 2010.  He recently resigned for health reasons.

“I appreciate Wayne’s contribution to the MAPS 3 program,” Councilman Skip Kelly said. He has been a great steward over the years and will be missed.

Dr. Griffin, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, has been in education for 40 years holding various positions in Oklahoma City and Crooked Oak Public Schools.  She is currently the superintendent of Millwood Public Schools.

“I am honored that Councilman Kelly asked me to sit on the MAPS 3 Advisory Board,” said Dr. Griffin. “This is an excellent opportunity to continue to serve our City.  I’m excited about what I have to offer and can learn from the Advisory Board.”

“Dr Griffin is an important stakeholder in the community and a proven leader in our educational system,” Kelly added.

The 11-member MAPS 3 Citizens Advisory Board has eight members representing the City’s eight wards, two at-large members (one of which is designated by the Mayor as chairman) and one member of the City Council.  Ward representatives are recommended by the respective Council members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
