Help Oklahoma City recycle Oklahoma City citizens send more than 275,000 tons of trash to the landfill and recycle only 8,000 tons. That’s only about 3 percent, and that’s not enough. Your neighborhood can help! The City’s Solid Waste Management Division provides curbside recycling. Collection crews will sort recyclables for you. Just fill your recycling bin and set it out for pickup with the Big Blue cart. You can recycle aluminum (clean food and beverage containers and foil), glass (clean beverage and food jars and bottles), paper (newspapers, magazines, advertising inserts, junk mail and phone books), plastic (clean milk and detergent jugs, beverage containers and all containers stamped with a “1” or “2” on the bottom), steel and tin (clean food cans and lids).
