Winter Period Average
Utility Service Center
Did you know that water conservation also saves you money on your sewer service?
For established residential, domestic-use customers, the flat monthly sewer charge
is based on the average amount of water used during four consecutive months falling
between – October 1 of one year and March 31 of the subsequent year.
This “winter average” billing method gives most customers a rate break as
sewer charges are set during the time of year most residential customers use the
least amount of water.
The winter average rate is used for 12 months; the new cycle begins April
1st. If a residential customer uses less water than the winter-month average any
month, sewer charges will reflect actual usage.
It’s important to use water wisely all year long, especially during the summer months when demand is at it’s highest. There are several ways to reduce water usage:
-
Be conscious of running water
-
Fix dripping faucets and leaky toilets
-
Run full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine
By taking a few steps, you’ll reduce the cost of your bill every month.
