First Review Completion

 City of Oklahoma City

Each department sends a report to the Development Center when its review is done. Next, the Development Center approves your plan as submitted or compiles a list of all corrections you need to make. Then, we call your representative to let you know the status of your application. (If corrections are needed, we will also fax, mail or hand out the list to any other people you designate.)

• TIP - At this point in the review process, the time remaining until a permit can be issued is under your control. You or your design professional must make the corrections and resubmit the corrected plans. This means the sooner you return corrected plans, the sooner we can issue the permit.

After your plans reflect code compliance and you have all of your approvals, we call to let you know you can come to the Development Center to pay the remaining fees, get your permit and move forward on the project.

• TIP - Be prepared to pay all fees due. Some projects have additional charges to compensate for burdening City water, sewer or storm-water systems.

These "system impact" or "detention" fees vary according to the project.  Detention and/or impact fees must be paid with separate checks.

Now that you have your permit, your licensed trade contractors (plumbing, mechanical, electrical, sign, driveway and fire suppression) may purchase their permits for your project.

• TIP - Have your subcontractors reference the Building Permit Number and project address on the approved building permit when they get their permits.
