The Urban Redevelopment Division provides planning services and technical assistance to support public, private and nonprofit development primarily in the downtown and urban core.

The division has managed several major downtown planning efforts in recent years, including the Medical Business District, Core to Shore, Bricktown and the Film District. Recently, the division launched the Downtown Strategic Initiative, a public planning process designed to ensure continued redevelopment in downtown. Division staff has also played an important role in working with the downtown business improvement district (BID).

In addition to downtown, the division has broadened its focus to support revitalization of older commercial areas through the Commercial District Revitalization Program (CRDP), launched in the fall of 2010. The division also houses the award-winning Brownfields program, which provides financial assistance for environmental site assessments and clean-up to support redevelopment projects.
