10th Street Medical Business District Corridor
Planning

Spearheaded by the 10th Street Medical Business District Corridor Plan, revitalization is spreading and defining the northern edges of downtown Oklahoma City.

While most recent downtown planning efforts have focused on Oklahoma City’s core downtown area, the renewal of the 10th Street Corridor sets a goal of linking three major medical centers, creating future growth opportunities and expanding revitalization to north downtown between St. Anthony Hospital and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Presbyterian Health Foundation Research Park.

The City of Oklahoma City Planning Department worked alongside the Oklahoma County Commissioners and representatives from St. Anthony Hospital, Presbyterian Health Foundation Research Park and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, as well as the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc. and the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority towards the development of a master plan that identified redevelopment needs and opportunities in the northern downtown area.

10th Street Corridor MapThe top priority for the project’s partners is to create an economically vibrant link between the three health care centers while fostering future growth of both downtown and the medical communities.

Chan Krieger Sieniewicz and Development Strategies, Inc. prepared the 10th Street Medical Business District Development Strategy, which studied the approximately 600 acre area between Classen Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard, and between North 8th Street and North 13th.

The study resulted in a development plan for pursuing redevelopment that is aligned with the goals of the project’s partners and the Downtown Oklahoma City Strategic Action Plan 2010.

The consultant team outlined how and what development should be pursued to best promote economic development of the 10th Street corridor and to support existing medical operations

In May 2007, the lead development agency, Medical Business District, Inc., engaged the services of the City of Oklahoma City to implement the plan.
