STOCKYARDS CITY URBAN DESIGN COMMITTEE

May 14, 2003 - 1:30 p.m.

Livestock Exchange Building

Note:  These minutes are subject to Committee approval.

The meeting of the Stockyards City Urban Design Committee was called to order in conference room 109 of the Livestock Exchange Building, 2501 Exchange Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  The meeting convened at 1:35 p.m.  Notice of the meeting and agenda were filed with the City Clerk’s office and posted on the Council bulletin board 24 hours prior to the meeting.

I.          ROLL CALL

            Members Present:            Martha Kulmacz

            Members Absent:            R. Michael Barber, Chair

                                                Tom Garner, Vice-Chair

            Staff Present:                John R. Calhoun, Planner II, Planning Department

Ms. Kulmacz chaired the meeting.

II.            APPROVAL OF MINUTES

            APPROVED.  Motion:  Pape/McCoy to approve the minutes of the March 12, 2003, Stockyards City Urban Design Committee meeting.  Ayes:  Kulmacz, McCoy, Pape.  Nays:  None.

III.            CASES FOR CONSIDERATION

            III-A. Consider modifying an application for Stockyards City Certificate of Approval for SCCA-02-001, at 1200 S Agnew Ave.  Application:  Alvin Lau, Lau Agency L.L.C. (Gellco), is applying for approval to (1)(c) attach cloth awning to top of parapet, extending over plaster canopy.  Ward 6.

Mr. Lau appeared with Mr. Leroy Melrose, Advertising Signs & Awnings Inc.  They stated that the design would include a diagonal corner seam, aluminum framing underneath, and cloth snap-on ends; and that the awning would extend 7’ past the glass on the north side.

            APPROVED.  Motion:  Pape/McCoy to approve SCCA-02-001, including the above statements by the applicant.  Ayes:  Kulmacz, McCoy, Pape.  Nays:  None.

IV.            OTHER BUSINESS  (no items)

V.            COMMUNICATIONS

            V-A.            Legal process concerning Bricktown violation, applicability to Stockyards City.

            V-B. The next regularly scheduled meeting for the Stockyards City Urban Design Committee is Wednesday, July 9, at 1:30 p.m.  New applications and information on continued projects are to be submitted to staff by 5:00 p.m., Friday, June 27 (early because of holiday).

VI.            ADJOURNMENT (2:26 p.m.)

            Motion:  McCoy/Pape to adjourn the May 14, 2003, meeting of the Stockyards City Urban Design Committee.  Ayes:  Kulmacz, McCoy, Pape.  Nays:  None.
