Planning

This land use plan covers far Northeast Oklahoma City.Click on map to see High Resolution version

The Northeast Sector Planning area includes 101.6 square miles located in the far northeastern portion of Oklahoma City. Distinguishing features within the sector include Arcadia Lake, the North Canadian River, the I-35 and I-44 interchange, and a predominant land use of rural acreage and agricultural development.

The sector plan process is a collaborative effort led by Planning Staff and involving City Council and Planning Commission members, neighborhood leaders, area developers, property owners, school representatives, leaders from adjacent cities, and other interested persons. The Northeast Sector Plan is used by City officials, citizens and private businesses to guide long-term decisions about future growth and development.

Community meetings were held on May 29 and June 19, 2008, at which participants expressed their ideas about the area’s growth and development. Volunteers formed a Plan Team, which met over a six-month period to develop the policies and recommendations included in the Draft Northeast Sector Plan. The Draft Plan was presented at a community meeting for feedback on August 18, 2009. The Northeast Sector Plan was adopted by the Planning Commission on September 24, 2009 and received by City Council on October 6, 2009.
