Downtown traffic advisory; 4/15

(April 15, 2011) - This is a summary of downtown traffic conditions for the week of April 18-22.  Changes to last week’s advisory are noted in red.  For a map that illustrates current traffic conditions please click here: Downtown Traffic Map

Robert S. Kerr between Robinson & Broadway now open

Hudson from Sheridan to Reno to close Tuesday April 19th for Festival of the Arts
Hudson Avenue from Sheridan to Reno will close on Tuesday April 19th at 6pm in preparation for the 2011 Festival of the Arts.  Motorists will be detoured to Sheridan.  Hudson will remain closed until after the Festival of the Arts.

Park between Robinson & Broadway to close next weekend
Park Avenue between Robinson and Broadway will close on Friday April 22nd at 7pm and re-open Sunday April 24th at 7pm.  This closure is to accommodate the removal of a cooling tower for private property in this area. 

Intersection at W. Main & Lee Avenue closed
The intersection at W. Main street and Lee Avenue is closed temporarily so streetscape crews can complete a 16-foot water line tie-in.  This closure prohibits thru traffic on W. Main between Shartel and Dewey avenues.  Traffic is being detoured to Sheridan Ave.

Robinson & NW 4th intersection reduced to two lanes*

The intersection at Robinson Avenue and NW 4th is reduced to one lane in each direction so crews can complete a water line crossing. 

Reno from EK Gaylord to Dewey OPEN to one lane in each direction*
Reno from EK Gaylord to Dewey is open to thru traffic but is limited to one lane in each direction while crews work to complete the NW corner of the Hudson/Reno intersection.

N Robinson from Dean McGee to NW6th closed to all traffic*
N Robinson from McGee to NW 6th is closed to all traffic so crews can complete streetscape work in this area.  Pedestrians will be able to cross at the NW 4th and NW 6th intersections and motorists will be directed to use the new 2-way conversion on N Harvey for their detour.  Those wishing to park in the National Memorial parking lot will be asked to enter from 5th street. 

Dean McGee from Hudson to Robinson reduced to one lane
Dean McGee is reduced to one eastbound lane while crews complete streetscape work.

California Avenue closed from Dewey to Walker*
California Avenue from Dewey to Walker will be closed through April 2011 so crews can expedite streetscape work in time for the Festival of the Arts.  Detour signs will be in place.

Walker from Reno to W. Main reduced to two lanes*
N. Walker from Reno to W. Main is reduced to two northbound lanes so crews can complete streetscape construction.   

Robinson from SW 2nd to SW 4th reduced to one lane
Southbound Robinson from SW 2nd to SW 4th is reduced to one lane for utility relocations.  I-40 access will remain open.

Hudson from Main to Reno reduced to two lanes
Southbound Hudson Avenue between Main and Reno is reduced to two lanes while renovations to the Myriad Gardens are completed.  Private downtown renovations are also being completed in the area. 

*Robinson from Sheridan to Reno closed southbound until spring 2011*
Southbound Robinson Avenue between Sheridan and Reno is closed so crews can continue renovation on the Myriad Botanical Gardens.  A counter flow lane has been constructed along Robinson between Main and Park to allow 2-way traffic.

Sheridan between Hudson and Robinson closed until 2012
Sheridan Avenue between Robinson Avenue and Hudson Avenue remains closed for renovation on the Myriad Botanical Gardens and private downtown renovations. 

Dewey closed from Sheridan to California*
Dewey from Sheridan to California remains closed for streetscape construction.   

All project timelines are contingent upon the weather.
