(October 5, 2009) - The
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility will host a special collection
for ammunition, computers and tires from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October
10 at the State Fairgrounds.
The drop off site will
be on the south side of the Fairgrounds, east of the arena.
Enter the Fairgrounds on Gordon Cooper Boulevard, Gate 5 from north
May.
The collection is open
to Oklahoma City residents only.
Recyclers must bring their current Oklahoma City water bill stub to
prove residency.
“Our bi-annual collection makes
it convenient for residents to rid their garage, attic and property of
hazardous material that shouldn’t be thrown in the landfill,” Household
Hazardous Waste Facility manager Lyndel Gibson said. “Residents just need to
drive to our collection location at the Fairgrounds and City employees will
unload the waste for them.”
Wheels, rims and oversized tires
such as equipment or farm implement tires will not be accepted.
The next special collection
will be spring 2010.
Businesses wanting to recycle
hazardous waste should contact the Department of Environmental Quality at
405-702-5100.
