Children aged seven to 12 can learn all about trees, flowers, insects and more at this popular summer day camp. Through garden-themed crafts and hands-on activities like planting a take-home vegetable garden, campers will discover the interaction between plants and people in daily life.
“Through games, crafts and hands-on activities, campers will develop not only a knowledge of plants, but an appreciation for all the wonderful things plants do for us,” said Jackie Mania, education coordinator at the Gardens. “They will get their hands dirty and really reap what they sow in their own vegetable garden.”
This year’s Junior Master Gardener runs during the Myriad Botanical Gardens’ newest exhibit, Passport to Plants. Taking full advantage of this exciting exhibit, campers will get the chance to explore the six different interactive stations in the Crystal Bridge with the help of a special activity guide.
“Junior Master Gardener is a fun and educational week for young naturalists,” Mania said.
Junior Master Gardener will run June 16 – 20 daily from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
Registration is $35 and includes tuition, Crystal Bridge admission and all gardening supplies needed to complete the camp. Classes are open to individuals and groups. Call 297-3995 to register.
