(March 17, 2008) - The Myriad Botanical Gardens’ Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory is celebrating its big 2-0! To mark this milestone, the Myriad Gardens is offering FREE admission to all visitors on March 25, 2008.
“It’s a simple way to say thank you to everyone who has supported us through the years,” said Gardens Manager Allan Storjohann, “and we’ll have cake.” Cake and punch will be served on a first come, first served basis.
The free admission day is part of a larger event celebrating the anniversary of the Crystal Bridge. In Full Bloom: Twenty Tropical Years is a special exhibition that began March 10 and continues through the spring. The exhibit, in the North Lobby of the Crystal Bridge, highlights the continued growth of the tropical conservatory since it first opened its doors to the public on March 25, 1988.
In Full Bloom takes visitors on a historic stroll through the Gardens’ earliest beginnings with special emphasis on the development of the Crystal Bridge. The special exhibit includes design models, original artistic renderings as well as a fascinating collection of media cut-outs and artifacts dating to the conservatory’s opening days.
In Full Bloom: Twenty Tropical Years is open during Crystal Bridge hours and with paid admission to the Crystal Bridge.
The Myriad Botanical Gardens is located at Reno and Robinson in downtown Oklahoma City. Crystal Bridge hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and $3 for children 4 to 12. Admission to the outdoor grounds is free. Call (405) 297-3995 for information or visit www.myriadgardens.com.
